	ARTIST OF THE YEAR
	The Delaware Arts Festival Association (DAFA) has selected Jim Fought as its 2011 Artist of the Year. During his 25 years as a self-taught artist, Fought has participated in individual and shared art exhibitions through the Central Ohio Watercolor Society (Spring and Fall shows), Capital University (Schumacher Gallery), Upper Arlington Lutheran Church, Delaware Artist Guild, The Ohio State University Marion (Wayne & Geraldine Kuhn Fine Arts Gallery) and others. According to Fought, who teaches classes at the Delaware Arts Castle, much of his work is inspired by his surroundings. “My stuff is realism,” he has said. “It is not photo realism. I allowed a few quirks to make it a little more painterly.” Fought enjoys painting scenes of small-town life. Vacations to the East Coast as well as travels through rural Ohio have inspired him to create regional and uniquely American paintings. As Artist of the Year, Fought will receive a presentation gift from Peachblow Pottery.
